Ironclad Assistant Becomes Ironclad Agent on October 8

On October 8, 2026, Ironclad Assistant will become Ironclad Agent.

Ironclad Agent will build on Ironclad Assistant’s search and question-answering capabilities and will also route requests to specialized agents. Users will be able to describe what they need in plain language, such as finding contracts up for renewal, starting a new contract request, reviewing a contract, or analyzing contract data.

For organizations that enable the Ironclad Agent homepage, Ironclad Agent will become the default homepage for users on October 8. Users can also access it from the sidebar and through a floating access button and side panel while working in Ironclad. Users can manage their own homepage preference with the Set Agent as my default home setting in personal settings.

Admins can manage the organization-wide homepage experience under Company Settings > Ironclad AI > Ironclad Agents:

• Disabling the homepage hides the Agent tab, but users can still access Ironclad Agent through the sidebar and via MCP.

• The Enable Ironclad Agent setting controls access at the company level. Turning it off disables Ironclad Agent, AI Search, and MCP access for all users in the organization.

Active/Inactive Obligations

You can now set obligations to Active or Inactive. Inactive obligations are no longer active commitments, but remain available for search and historical reference. They’re excluded from default active-focused views and notifications.

The All obligations and Starred views show both active and inactive obligations. All other obligation dashboard views automatically apply the Is Active filter so inactive obligations do not affect your view or counts.

Bulk Extract Obligations with Smart Import

You can now use Ironclad AI to extract obligations in bulk while importing contracts, and review the results from the Obligations dashboard. After extraction, you can verify results in List view or use Data view to inspect values, view the highlighted source text in the document, and edit values before verifying them. Bulk extraction runs only on active contracts and follows the review, assignee, and extraction settings configured in Obligation Types.

Assign Entities to Extracted Obligations on Multi-Entity Contracts

During obligation extraction, Ironclad AI can now assign each obligation to the entity it applies to when a contract includes multiple entities. Ironclad AI uses the company name, entity names, and available metadata—such as addresses, signer names, and relationship types—to identify the corresponding counterparty entity. When two or more entities are listed, it evaluates the contract and creates a separate obligation for each applicable entity; when only one entity is listed, it assigns that entity to every extracted obligation. If an obligation refers to a generalized role and multiple entities have that role as their relationship type, Ironclad AI will duplicate the obligation for each matching entity.

Ironclad for Word Add-In Updates

We have made the following updates to the Ironclad for Word Add-In:

• Sign in with a magic link. If your company uses passwordless sign-in, the Word Desktop Add-in now supports one-time email links so you can authenticate without a password.
• Merge versions. When multiple people edit the same workflow document in Word, the add-in warns you about competing drafts and helps reconcile changes instead of silently saving separate versions that can overwrite or lose edits.
• See workflow activity. Review recent comments, uploads, and approvals directly in the add-in sidebar. Select View all in Ironclad to open the complete Activity Feed in your browser.

Global Condition Improvements

We made a couple of minor improvements to global conditions. You can now:

• Copy a condition name directly from the Attributes panel using the three-dot menu.
• Identify global conditions added to the workflow by looking for the globe icon next to each condition in the Attributes panel.
  

Assign Users to Multiple Roles

You can now assign the same user to multiple roles in a workflow, including roles assigned through advanced conditions. For example, you can assign the Workflow Owner to multiple approvals or carry the Legal Review assignee into a later Final Legal Sign-off approval. If a persisted role is reassigned, the new assignee is applied to future linked roles. This reduces manual selections and reassignment, making complex workflows easier to configure and approval assignments more consistent.

Confidence Scoring and Flagging for Record Properties

Ironclad AI now reviews your AI-extracted record properties and flags values that may need review.

When you extract records, Ironclad AI compares each extracted property with the source document. If it isn’t confident in a value, it flags the value for review. In the Repository Dashboard, flagged values appear in yellow text with a flag icon. You can also use the Flagged for review view to find records with flagged properties.

Select a flagged value to review why Ironclad AI flagged it and see where the value came from in the document. You can edit the value or remove the flag after reviewing it.

Workflow Configuration Launch Type Conversion

Workflow Designer now lets admins duplicate published workflows configurations with a different launch type:

• Duplicate to convert an internal workflow configuration to a public workflow configuration.
• Duplicate to convert a public workflow configuration to an internal workflow configuration.

The duplicate preserves questions, conditions, formulas, and roles. This lets you reuse an established business process for a different audience without rebuilding the configuration or editing an .icb file. Ironclad also surfaces conflicts for review, and the original configuration remains unchanged.

For example, you can reuse an internal NDA process as a supplier-initiated public workflow instead of rebuilding it from scratch. You can also duplicate a public workflow as an internal workflow when the process should be initiated by members of your Ironclad team.

OpenID Connect (OIDC) Single Sign-On

Ironclad now supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) single sign-on alongside SAML. OIDC supports identity providers such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Google Workspace and supports just-in-time user provisioning.

Admins can configure OIDC for their organization while retaining existing SAML support. Users then authenticate through the configured identity provider.

OIDC is available alongside SAML and does not replace existing SAML support.

Portfolio Benchmarks in Ironclad Agent (fka Ironclad Assistant) 

Portfolio Benchmarks in Ironclad Agent compares a contract with your organization’s previous contracts and shows how common clauses or terms compare across your portfolio.

Benchmark results can show the current contract term, same-counterparty and portfolio comparisons, distribution or frequency, and unusual-term indicators. Results use only contracts that the user can access and do not replace legal review or approval workflows.

Contract Family Agent

The Contract Family Agent is generally available starting October 8, 2026. Contract Family Agent organizes related contracts into parent-child hierarchies for an entity, such as master agreements, statements of work, and amendments.

The agent proposes parent, child, amendment, and other relationships. It routes uncertain results to a verification queue where authorized users can confirm, move, add, or remove relationships that require human judgment.

Analytics Agent

Analytics Agent is generally available starting October 8, 2026. Use natural-language prompts to ask questions about workflow or contract data and request results as charts, tables, or downloadable CSV files.

For more precise results, include the relevant time period, grouping, visual format, and filters or exclusions in your prompt. You can also ask Analytics Agent to explain its methodology or compare periods and segments.

Conversational Intake

Describe a contract request or upload a file in Ironclad Agent (fka Ironclad Assistant) to find an eligible workflow before completing the launch form.

Conversational Intake explains its workflow suggestions and requires you to confirm a workflow before proceeding. If Intake Agent is enabled for the selected workflow, Ironclad analyzes the uploaded document and suggests launch-form answers. Otherwise, Ironclad directs you to the standard launch form.

Generate Renewal Briefs with Ironclad Agent (fka Ironclad Assistant)

Renewal Agent automatically prepares renewal briefs for eligible contracts within 90 days of expiration. You can now ask Ironclad Agent to generate a renewal brief for any contract outside that automatic 90-day window.

The first time anyone at your company views a renewal brief, it consumes 10 AI credits. The charge applies once per company for that brief, and later views do not consume additional credits.

Legora Integration (Limited Beta)

Ironclad is developing an integration with Legora. Access is limited to selected beta customers while configuration and enablement workflows are still being finalized. Feature or behavior may change before the integration becomes generally available. 

The current beta supports the following capabilities:

• Invoke Ironclad from a Legora Agent prompt by mentioning @ironclad.

• Search Ironclad workflows and contracts from Legora.

• Review multiple matching Ironclad records, including record IDs, titles, statuses, and execution dates.

• Search for and select multiple executed contracts stored in Ironclad.

• Transfer selected contracts to Legora for Tabular Review.

• Ground Legora's analysis in contract context from the Ironclad repository.

The integration uses existing MCP client and server capabilities. Search results are permission-aware and are limited to Ironclad data the authenticated user can access.

Workflow Designer Agent

The Workflow Designer Agent helps workflow admins create, edit, audit, and troubleshoot workflow configurations using natural-language requests inside the Ironclad Agent (fka Ironclad Assistant) panel in Workflow Designer. 

The Workflow Designer Agent can be enabled under Company Settings > Ironclad AI > Ironclad Agents.

You can ask the agent to create and organize form fields, configure approvals and conditions, author formulas, manage notifications, and review configurations for errors or conflicts. Review all changes before saving or publishing the workflow configuration.

Ask Ironclad Agent about Contract Families

Ironclad Agent (fka Ironclad Assistant) can answer questions about contracts associated with an entity and the relationships between contracts in a Contract Family. Ask about related agreements, contract counts, or family relationships without manually searching for the relevant records.

For example, you can ask:

• What SOWs and amendments are tied to the Acme MSA?

• How many contracts do I have with Noe & Associates?

• Find an agreement with Lazer Technologies.

Ironclad Agent can resolve the entity in your question, ask a follow-up question when a name is ambiguous, and ask you to specify an agreement type when your request is incomplete. It can return the number of contracts associated with an entity, including counts by relationship side, explain parent, child, and amendment relationships, and link you to the entity’s Contracts view.
