Use the Workflow Designer Agent to create, edit, and audit workflow configurations. The WFD Agent works inside the Ironclad Assistant panel in Workflow Designer. An admin must first turn on the company-level WFD Agent setting.
Use Case
A workflow admin is updating a vendor workflow and wants to add a monetary field, reorder form questions, configure a notification, or troubleshoot a validation error.
Prerequisites
| Features | Workflow Designer, Ironclad Assistant, Workflow Designer Agent |
| Permissions | Workflow admins or users with Workflow Designer permissions. The WFD Agent must be enabled under Company Settings Ironclad AI Ironclad Agents. |
Release: This article describes features and functionality planned for our October release. Some features may not be available until October 8, 2026.
Use the WFD Agent in Workflow Designer
To use the WFD Agent:
- On the Workflow Designer page, select the workflow you want to edit.
- Select the Assistant button in the bottom-left corner.
- Enter a prompt describing the workflow change or review you want.
- Click Save to preserve your changes.
Example Prompts
- Add a monetary field called Subscription Fee to the Launch Form.
- Move the Effective Date question above the Counterparty Name question.
- Add an email notification when the workflow enters the approval stage.
- Explain and help troubleshoot the validation error in this workflow.
- Set the renewal notice period to 90 days.
Best Practices for Clear Prompts
- Specify field types and locations. Name the field type and the section or form where it belongs. Supported types include text, number, monetary amount, date, boolean, dropdown, and document.
- Define complete condition rules. When asking for routing or visibility logic, specify both the property and the threshold (e.g., "when Agreement Effective Date Type is 'On a date specified in the agreement'").
- Group multi-step requests. List the fields, sections, and rules you want to create or change. For a large build, ask the WFD Agent to outline a plan for your confirmation before applying changes.
- Review before publishing. Always review your changes in WFD before saving or publishing.
