This article goes over the Analytics Agent, an AI-powered analytics experience inside Ironclad Assistant that turns contracts and workflows into charts, tables, and graphs with reviewable source data. It covers what the Analytics Agent can answer, how the experience works, what’s included in each response, and current limitations.

About Analytics Agent
The Analytics Agent is a self-serve analytics experience inside Ironclad Assistant. Instead of building a pre-configured report or exporting your data to an external BI tool, you can ask a question in plain language and the Analytics Agent will respond with a data visualization built from your contracting data.
Every Analytics Agent response includes:
- Data Visualization: A chart, table, or graph answering your question.
- Logic: A plain-language explanation of how the Analytics Agent interpreted your question and produced the result.
- Citation: The underlying data table behind the visualization.
- Refinement: The ability to adjust the result with follow-up instructions.
You can also pin the resulting chart or graph to Insights, add it to an existing report, or save it as a new report by clicking Pin chart to insights under the generated visualization.
Example Questions
Analytics Agent works best for operational questions about workflow and contract performance. Here are a few examples of questions you can ask the Analytics Agent to produce data visualizations for:
- Workload distribution: "How many workflows did each team approve over the last six months?"
- Spend and value: Vendor spend analysis, or contract value distribution by category or over time.
- Renewals and risk: Renewal exposure by supplier, or risk concentration across your agreements.
- Cycle time: "How many workflows did we complete each month over the last 12 months?" or "Compare our average cycle time across use cases.”
- Configuration and audit: "Which workflow configurations are used most?" or "Who changed this workflow in the last 30 days?"
Note:
Analytics Agent can be run on any metadata or property saved on a contract. Analytics Agent doesn’t currently analyze contract text or clauses.
Use Analytics Agent
Analytics Agent lives inside Ironclad Assistant, so you ask a question the same way you'd make any other Assistant request.
To analyze your data with Analytics Agent:
- Open Ironclad Assistant.
- Ask an analytical question in plain language and hit Enter.
Example: "How many workflows did we complete each month over the last 12 months?"
- Review the chart, table, or graph that the Analytics Agent returns.
- Verify the result by reviewing the logic the Analytics Agent used.
- Optional: Refine the result, if needed. Reply with follow-up instructions to adjust things like the time range or chart type. Analytics Agent regenerates the data visualization with each refinement.
- Click Pin chart to insights underneath the data visualization to add it to an existing report, create a new report, or to save it to your Pinned from Assistant section in Insights.
To access pinned reports:
- Log into Ironclad.
- Click Insights.
- Under AI Reports, click Pinned from Assistant.
Note:
Accessing the generated data visualization does not consume AI credits.
