What's New in Ironclad: July 2025

July’s release transforms Entities from simple metadata tags into powerful operational tools that give Legal and Procurement teams unprecedented control, visibility and automation across their contracting process.

Entities

The following functionality has been added to entities:

Entities on the Dashboard

You can now view entities as a column, filter contracts by entity, and bulk tag entities through the Dashboard.

Bulk Delete Entities

You can now delete entities in bulk. This is especially useful if there's an error during entity import, allowing you to start over.

Use Entity Data in Conditions

You can now map all entity fields and properties into a workflow (including the status, relationship type, and ID).

You can also use the Entity property in a condition with the value ‘is empty’ or ‘is not empty’. This is useful to create dynamic workflows dependent on whether or not an entity is populated.

Refresh Entity Data in Active Workflows

You can now refresh data populated from the entity profile, ensuring conditions run on up-to-date information.

Configure Search for Entities in Workflows

Admins with Workflow Designer access can now configure which entities can be selected in a workflow.

By default, workflows will filter by Active status and any Relationship types defined on the question. For example, if you set the Relationship type to Partner, the question will only display active entities classified as partners.

Tag Entities Onto Contracts Using AI Suggestions

You can now use AI suggestions (including Smart Import) to tag entities onto contracts. Entities are detected as part of our existing detection and prediction experiences.

You must configure your entities before using AI suggestions. At this time, AI suggestions does not support automatically creating new entities based on its detections.

Entities in Record and Workflow APIs

Entities are now supported in the Workflows API, and the Records API. You can now connect Ironclad with other business systems, such as vendor management or ERP systems.

Turn Tracking for Workflows

The progress banner at the top of workflows now displays turn tracking. You can see whether it’s your company’s turn, or the counterparty’s turn to take action in the workflow. You’ll also be able to see if no turn has been initiated or if turn tracking isn’t enabled.

‘Needs Verification’ Dashboard View

We have added a new default Dashboard view in the Repository section called “Needs verification” which includes records with unverified AI predictions.

Dashboard Hover Menu

You can now access a hover menu on the Dashboard to open workflows or documents in a new tab.

Granular User and Group Filtering

You can now filter by User Type, Group, and User within the Users and Groups pages in Company Settings.

Resizable Attributes Sidebar in Workflow Designer

Admins can now resize the Attributes sidebar in Workflow Designer. You can adjust the width by clicking and dragging the edge of the sidebar. This can help you view more of your properties, conditions, and clauses at a glance when configuring workflow templates.

Changes to the width will persist between sessions.

Hide Internal Comments on Custom Emails

Users with Workflow Designer access can now control whether comments are included or hidden when sharing documents as part of custom emails. When you attach a draft document to a custom email during the Review step, you’ll see a new option to Hide internal comments. Enabling this option will hide all internal comments from the version sent to recipients without creating a separate draft. This action will be logged in the Activity Feed, so you’ll always have a clear record of what was shared.

Filter by AI Property Configuration Type

You can now filter properties by AI configuration type, including Custom AI. We have also refreshed our toast message styling.

Include Logo in Ironclad Signature Emails

You can now include your company logo in Ironclad Signature packet emails.

Updated Address Format in Records

The address format in records is now structured with multiple lines to enable seamless downstream integrations and the correct population of addressees into form fields. This will only apply to records created after the release on July 10th.

We are not migrating existing records to this format. (If you would like to migrate the format of your existing records, you can use metadata export and import.)

You can opt-in to using the structured multi-line format in your APIs as well.

Obligations

The following functionality has been added to obligations:

Edit Obligations from the Obligations Dashboard

You can now edit obligations from the obligations dashboard.

Create and Manage Obligation Properties and Types in Data Manager

Admins can now create obligation types and properties in Data Manager to track contract commitments as action items.

Obligation types enable you to categorize each obligation by its type. Previously, we offered predefined obligation types as a suggested list of common contractual obligations. You can now further customize the names, descriptions, and properties of these predefined obligation types in Data Manager to best fits your organization’s needs. You can also create new obligation types.

Obligation properties are pieces of information you want to collect and track. Previously, there were eight predefined obligation properties. Now, you can edit the names and descriptions of these properties and create more in Data Manager.

Data Manager now provides a central location to manage all your obligation properties and types.

Obligations API

You can use the Obligations API to create, update, and manage obligations and related properties at scale. In addition, you can ingest or push obligation data to other systems to power automation.

Jurist Improvements

The following functionality has been added to Jurist:

Upvote and Downvote

After Jurist generates an output, you can provide feedback as to whether or not it was helpful by clicking the thumbs up or thumbs down icons. This feedback will help tailor the AI model to improve over time.

Read Tables

Jurist can read tables in documents (although it can’t edit them yet).

OCR Used on Documents

OCR will now be used on documents uploaded through prompts.

Redline from Precedent Improvements

We have made minor UI and copy improvements to the Jurist UI when redlining a sentence or clause from precedent.

API Workflow Schema Endpoint Enhancement

You can now use the Ironclad API to view key field details, including:

1. Whether or not a field is required. There are three possible values:
   1. Always: The field is referenced by a single, required, always visible question.
   2. Never: All questions referencing the field are not required.
   3. Conditionally: The field is referenced by 2+ questions and at least one is required, or visibility of the field is conditional.
2. All possible values for the field.
3. All default values for the field.

Contract Status Webhooks

You can use Contract or Renewal status updates to trigger downstream automations with external systems. You can configure these statuses to notify other systems and trigger automation flows when the Contract or Renewal status has been updated. 

Include Integration Approvers in Dashboard Export

Integration approvers are now included in the Dashboard export Approvals tabs (approval requests by user, approval requests by role) and on the Get Approval Requests API endpoint.

We have brought back the Approval Type and Actor Type columns on the export, with the following values:

Docusign OAuth Update

The Ironclad <> Docusign integration will no longer silently disconnect when Docusign user credentials are updated.

This change will take effect the next time you link your Docusign account after July 10th. You will see a request for an additional permission to enable this functionality.

We recommend manually relinking your account after July 10th to ensure the Docusign integration is more resilient to changes to the linked Docusign user account.

Import Supplier Data with Coupa Integration

We’ve added a feature that automatically syncs supplier data from Coupa into Ironclad workflows, eliminating the need to switch systems or manually enter supplier details. Customers now have the option to launch workflows directly from Ironclad, which will call Coupa’s API to retrieve vendor or supplier data to populate corresponding Ironclad fields.

Mulesoft Connector Updates

You can now download the Ironclad Connector on MuleSoft from the Anypoint Exchange.

Salesforce Integration

The following functionality has been added to Salesforce:

Improved Security and New Managed Package for Salesforce Integration (3.51)

This release, we’re introducing a variety of enhanced security features:

• New Inbound Authorization Step: Admins can now initiate an OAuth flow from the authorization step, allowing them to grant or deny Ironclad access to their Salesforce organization.
• Improved Pause, Resume, and Cancel Actions: Pause, resume, and cancel actions now leverage the List All Participants API, ensuring all workflow participants are considered for eligibility rather than relying solely on approver lists.
• Streamlined CSP Settings: Ironclad iframe URLs are now automatically packaged as trusted Salesforce CSP settings, removing the need for manual configuration while maintaining security compliance.

These updates improve admin control, workflow accuracy, and overall integration security.

Transactional API Updates to Salesforce

During Salesforce Record Sync, Ironclad now updates all objects on the Salesforce side in a single API call from Ironclad, ensuring data accuracy and eliminating inconsistencies. Previously, each object required a separate API call, which could result in partial updates to record metadata and unnecessary API usage.

This improvement only applies to Record Sync, not Workflow Sync.

Resume Record Sync for Manually Updated Salesforce Fields

Previously, if a user manually edited a property in Salesforce that was synced by Ironclad Record Sync, Ironclad would stop syncing updates to that property—putting it in a permanently broken state.

Now, syncing will resume once the value in Ironclad matches the value in Salesforce. If the values do not match, Ironclad will not overwrite the Salesforce value. Once they do match, syncing resumes, allowing the property to recover from the broken state.

Additionally, the External Links view on the record now shows when Record Sync was last attempted. This information appears beneath each link as ‘Updated –m ago’.

Support Rich Text from Salesforce

When using our Salesforce integration, Ironclad will now carry over the following rich text fields to Ironclad templates without the tags and with the proper style and structure: 

• Bold (<b>)
• Italic (<i>)
• Underline (<u>)
• Lists (<ul>, <ol>, <li>)
• Hyperlinks (<a>)

Updated Google Drive Import Flow for Records

In response to recent changes by Google to Drive access controls, you will see an updated import flow for Google Drive. If you select Google Drive when importing records, you’ll be prompted to grant access, even if you’ve previously done so. Access is also more granular, allowing Ironclad to only access the files you select. After granting access, you’ll see a new file modal integrated directly from Google, which may look and feel slightly different from previous versions.
