Welcome to What's New in Ironclad: April 2026! This article highlights Ironclad’s new feature releases and existing feature updates for April 2026. The following features will be available on April 23rd. We adhere to a bi-quarterly schedule, delivering new features twice a quarter.
This April, you can use Intake Agent and Jurist Redlining with Playbooks to accelerate intake and review, and rely on our AI-powered Upcoming Renewals Dashboard to quickly surface renewals that need attention. We’ve also enhanced Ironclad Signature with precise tagging, scheduled sends, and other improvements so it’s easier to get documents signed on time.

Faster 3PP Contract Intake with Intake Agent
Intake Agent automates contract intake for third-party paper workflows to reduce time spent on manual data entry and increase data fidelity. It reads your counterparty's contract, extracts key data, follows linked URLs, and pre-fills your launch form.
What it does:
- Extracts data for out-of-the-box and custom properties—No set up required. It finds dates, party names, termination clauses, contract values, and more.
- Applies reasoning to infer information not explicitly stated (e.g., data handling practices, security policies).
- Follows hyperlinks within contracts to analyze referenced documents and websites relevant to any content in your launch form.
- Recommends entities using fuzzy matching against your existing Ironclad entity records.
- Pre-fills your launch form with reasoning and citations for each field so you can verify the source.

Jurist Redlining Agent with Playbooks
We’re adding the ability to use Jurist to redline with playbooks generated by your team so you can run first-pass redlines across entire contracts, driven by your preferred language and rules.
By uploading a contract and applying one or more company playbooks, Jurist automatically proposes redlines throughout the document, flags non-standard or risky language, and explains its reasoning for each suggested change. Reviewers can see risk levels, inspect source references from the playbook, and then accept, reject, or edit each redline before finalizing the agreement.
This helps teams standardize review against their own positions, reduce manual clause-by-clause editing, and accelerate negotiations on high-volume agreements like NDAs and MSAs.

Permission for Uploading Documents at Review and Sign
We’ve added two new granular permissions in Workflow Designer for the Review and Sign steps.
- At the Review step, admins can define which roles may upload new documents, upload new versions, rename documents, and delete documents. This prevents users who should only view the document from being able to make any updates, avoiding compliance issues or delays.
- At the Sign step, admins can restrict Upload Signed Documents to specific roles, preventing unauthorized or non-compliant files from being attached to the final packet.
Users without permission will see a disabled upload control with clear messaging informing them they lack permissions, while authorized users will retain the ability to upload or correct signed documents.

Improved Property Management in Data Manager
We’ve updated the property management experience in Data Manager to give admins stronger safeguards and a faster way to clean up redundant properties at scale.
What’s new:
- New safeguards prevent accidental deletion of properties that are still used in unpublished workflow configurations, protecting data integrity and avoiding unexpected disruptions to in-progress work.
- Admins can automatically merge properties, including those used in published workflow configurations, except when both properties appear in the same configuration.
- Updated UI and exports make it easier to inspect where a property is being used before deletion or merging.

Adjust Signature Packet Documents During Review
You can now add, remove, and reorder documents while a workflow is in the Review step, without cancelling or relaunching the workflow. This keeps the signing bundle aligned to the latest negotiation while ensuring what the signer receives is up to date. You can manage this functionality directly on the workflow alongside existing document review controls.
Admins can update their workflow conditions and reset approval options to control when approvals are cleared and required again if packet documents are added, removed, redlined, uploaded, deleted, or reordered.
Admins can also decide who is allowed to adjust the packet contents in Workflow Designer and Company Settings.
Additionally, we've added new WFD configuration options for approval resets, conditions, and permissions. You'll be able to:
- Reduce the number of legal approvals getting triggered or reset when documents are updated, by focusing on documents in the signature packet, and providing a new option that is just about redlining.
- Provide controls for groups who can adjust signature packet documents by setting permissions, triggering or resetting approvals if documents are moved.
- Expand access to workflow actions within guardrails.

Upcoming Renewals Dashboard
The Upcoming Renewals dashboard is a centralized, AI-powered view of contracts that are approaching renewal. By extracting key data such as renewal dates and notice periods, the Upcoming Renewals dashboard can surface records that need attention.
Here's what you'll be able to view in the dashboard:
- Business relationship – identifies vendor (buy-side) contracts
- Effective date – when the agreement term starts.
- Renewal opt-out date – the latest date you can cancel or change terms before auto-renewal.
- Annual contract value – the yearly value of the agreement used to size impact and prioritize.
- Number of renewals allowed (where limited) – how many times the contract can renew under current terms.
You can use the Upcoming Renewals dashboard as a launch point to take action on upcoming contract renewals. This provides continuous visibility and control over renewals, so nothing renews by accident, no savings opportunity is missed, and every renewal decision is grounded in spend, performance, and market intelligence.

Workflow Page Usability Updates
The Workflow Page has been updated to help users orient themselves faster, find key documents more easily, and understand workflow status at a glance.
This update includes a clearer status experience, moves the stage progress tracker and turn tracking into the Progress Banner, opens Expanded Details by default, and gives documents and integrations more visual emphasis on the page.
You’ll also see document thumbnails, stronger visual focus on the documents section, updated Archive copy, and the Refresh from source button displayed whenever integrations are present.
These are visual and navigation improvements only—there are no changes to underlying functionality, and most actions, with the exception of Turn Tracking, can be found in the same areas as usual.

Ironclad Email Update
We’ve updated the subject line for Form Assigned To You email notifications. When someone is assigned a form, the email subject line now always includes the workflow name, so it’s easier to see what the request is about from your inbox. If there is a Coupa requisition or Salesforce linked source connected to the workflow, that will also be viewed in the email subject line.

Dashboard Usability Improvements
We’ve made a set of usability updates to the Dashboard to help users get to the contracts and workflows they need more quickly.
Clicking anywhere on a row will now open the relevant page directly. If you want to inspect an item without leaving the Dashboard, you can hover over a row and use the Preview action button next to the contract name.
Admins can turn this feature on for their users under Company Settings > Settings > General by toggling the Enable new Dashboard navigation setting on.
We’re also improving search continuity with Sticky Search, so when you go back in your browser after opening a result, your search results are still there exactly as you left them.
These changes are designed to address usability issues introduced for power users after the unified Dashboard update, while keeping the core Dashboard experience simple for everyone else.

Pending Draft Warning
We’ve added a warning to help users avoid approving documents when there is still an open draft in Google Docs or Word Online.
When a user tries to approve a document with a pending draft, Ironclad now shows a warning so they can pause and review the latest edits before moving forward. Users can still choose to override the warning and approve anyway.
This is a lightweight safeguard designed to reduce accidental approvals on outdated content without changing the approval flow itself.

Push Workflow Configurations
We’ve added a faster way to move workflow configurations between approved Ironclad instances on the same stack.
Instead of exporting a configuration, downloading it, and re-importing it elsewhere, users with the right Workflow Designer permissions can now push workflow configurations directly to another instance they already have access to. This includes the workflow configuration itself along with related permissions, properties, playbooks, entities, and obligations.
This reduces manual setup work and helps teams promote tested configurations into production more reliably.

Customer Managed Keys - AWS HYOK
Customers using per-tenant encryption can now configure an AWS-managed key to encrypt documents stored in Ironclad. This gives organizations more control over their encryption posture and allows them to manage key access from their own AWS environment.
This update is especially useful for security-conscious teams that want stronger control over document encryption while continuing to use Ironclad’s existing per-tenant encryption workflow.

Improved Obligation Management Navigation
We’ve made a small navigation improvement for customers using Obligation Management.
Users can now move more easily from an obligation detail view to the parent contract, and then back to the obligations list after reviewing the contract. These changes reduce extra clicks and make it easier to review obligations in context.
This is a minor usability update, but it should make day-to-day obligation review feel smoother for teams who rely on this workflow.

Security Enhancements to Ironclad Webhooks
We are making a security enhancement to Ironclad webhooks that includes rotating the webhook verification public key in the Demo and EU1 environments starting May 16, 2026. If your implementation stores or hardcodes the public key, ensure that you retrieve the new webhook verification public key after the rotation occurs and update your verification process accordingly.
Note:
This change does not affect NA1 Production customers and is not impacted by this rotation.
No action is required if:
- You dynamically retrieve the webhook verification public key (as recommended)
- If you don't currently verify webhook signatures at your webhook target URL
If the public key is cached and not refreshed after the rotation occurs:
- Webhooks will continue to be delivered successfully
- Signature verification may fail until the updated key is retrieved
If your implementation stores or hardcodes the public key, ensure that you retrieve the webhook verification public key after the rotation occurs, and update your verification process accordingly.
To avoid verification issues during future key rotations, we strongly recommend dynamically retrieving the public key as part of your webhook verification process rather than caching it.

Launch Workflows from Salesforce via Public API
You can launch and refresh Ironclad workflows from Salesforce-linked records using Ironclad’s public API with all of the benefits of the Salesforce managed package and workflow sync. This means you can automate Salesforce-driven launches without a human in the loop.
What’s new:
- Public API launch endpoint for Salesforce-linked sources
- You’ll be able to see the Public API launch URL on mappings that support Salesforce-linked launching. If all required launch data is present, calling this endpoint will launch the workflow immediately by pulling data in from Salesforce.
- Public API refresh endpoint for Salesforce-linked workflows
- The refresh endpoint lets you re-sync all workflows tied to a given Salesforce external object using the Salesforce API token (or another client app with the correct scope).

Related Record Filter by Entity
We’ve upgraded Related Record fields to be more entity-aware and easier to configure, so users see the right contracts first and admins have finer control.
- Entity-aware search: When entity filtering isn’t enforced, results are split into two sections: contracts matching the selected entity first, then all other records.
- Entity enforcement: When enabled in Workflow Designer, results are limited to contracts for the selected entity only; if the entity changes, any existing related record is cleared to avoid mismatches.
- Associated entities: A new Include associated entity contracts toggle lets admins optionally pull in contracts from descendant (child) entities; it’s off by default so existing workflows are unchanged.
- Advanced filters: The Configure Search modal now uses the full filter builder, so admins can create rich filters (negation, multi-value, date ranges, etc.).
- Launch API support: Related Record fields are now supported via the workflow launch API, so related, parent, or child records can be set programmatically at launch.

We've updated the the Get Records API so that when a record exists but the requesting API user doesn't have permission to view it, the endpoint now returns 403 Forbidden instead of 404 Not Found.
