Summary
This article walks you through how to view an entity’s obligations. Entities give you one place to track the organizations and partners you work with, such as companies, contractors, schools, and other collaborators. When an obligation is tied to a workflow or record that has an entity, Ironclad automatically associates that obligation with the same entity. This helps you review obligations by counterparty and understand your relationship with that organization.
Use Case
At Classics Inc., a legal operations manager needs to review all obligations tied to a vendor before a renewal discussion. They open the vendor's entity record to see the obligations connected to that vendor's contracts. This helps them quickly understand active commitments and prepare for the next step in the relationship.

| Permissions | Obligation permissions are inherited from the associated workflows or records. If you can view the workflow or record, you can view the obligations. |
View an Entity’s Obligations
Entities act as a central place for the organizations and partners you work with. They help you create contracts faster and give you a clearer view of your relationship with each counterparty.
When you create an obligation, Ironclad links it to the related workflow or record. If that workflow or record already has an entity assigned, Ironclad automatically associates the obligation with that entity. You can then view those obligations from the entity record.
- Click the Entities tab.
- Select the entity you want to review.
- Click the Obligations tab. This tab shows obligations tied to contracts linked to that entity.
- Review the obligations for that entity.
