Improved Workflow Configuration Portability
We’ve added features that make importing workflow configurations from one environment to the next clearer, easier, and faster. Here’s what’s new:
- Configuration Import Summary: When you successfully import a workflow configuration, the import summary confirms completion and shows which objects were Created, Needs Attention, or were Not Created. You can use import summaries to quickly spot missing items or resolve conflicts that prevent you from publishing your imported workflow configuration.
- Users and groups auto-map when they match: If users and groups are in the target instance and can be matched to their respective user or group in the import, they’re matched automatically.
- Auto-create missing groups: If groups in the imported configuration aren’t in the target instance, the workflow configuration owner has the option to automatically create them upon import. Admins can turn this option on for users in Company Settings > General > Allow workflow configuration import to create groups.
- Identify missing users: If users in the imported configuration aren’t in the target instance, the import summary shows the workflow configuration owner who’s missing so they can be invited.
- Property metadata carries over: If a property is missing in the target instance and must be created during import, all property metadata will be carried over to the new property. Your created property will retain the same visibility, description, etc., as what was exported.

Persisted Sidebar Position in Workflow Designer
Previously, when editing complex configurations in Workflow Designer, admins sometimes lost their place in the Attributes sidebar after saving or exiting an object.
Now, the sidebar will remember your scroll position when editing properties, conditions, and other objects. This improvement makes it easier to stay oriented and work more efficiently in Workflow Designer.

Attach Signature Packets to Custom Emails
The attachment picker for custom emails sent after the Create and Review stages of a workflow now points to your signature packets. Whether notifying recipients that a workflow has been launched or fully approved, this update ensures that recipients receive all signature packet documents. Simply attach signature packet documents in Workflow Designer, under Custom Emails at the Create or Review stage, and those attachments will be sent with the custom email.
This change only impacts workflows where the signature packet includes attachments.
For workflows without a Sign step, Workflow Designer admins can toggle whether main documents are still included in the signature packet for the workflow page, custom emails, and APIs.
When you open the Custom Emails tab in either stage, you’ll notice that the paperclip icon now references signature packet documents instead of draft documents.

Edit in Google Docs and Edit in Microsoft Word Online
Enable/Access: This feature will be available for early access on December 5th. If you interested in learning more about this feature and applying for the Early Access Program, please reach out to your Ironclad representative or Support.
You can open and edit Ironclad contracts in Google Docs or Microsoft Word Online. Opening a document in Google Docs or Word Online from the Ironclad Editor automatically creates a draft so you can stay synced while working in your preferred platform.
While that draft is open, Ironclad shows you:
- Who’s editing
- When they opened the draft
- Where they’re editing
- Which version of the document they’re editing
Teams can collaborate on drafts in real-time with comments and suggestions. They can also opt to edit independently in Ironclad Editor before syncing their final edits into the document.

Update Parent Contract Terms with Amendments
You can now update key contract properties when linking an amendment to a parent record. When you link an amendment, a side-by-side comparison shows all new and updated properties, allowing you to select which values should roll up to the parent.
Once selected, the key properties will be automatically updated on the parent record, establishing it as your single source of truth. You no longer need to read through every amendment, just view the parent record to instantly access the most current terms. You can still view the original values at any time in the record’s Properties section.
This enhancement streamlines contract management by reducing manual updates and ensuring all contracts reflect the latest terms.

Automatically Detect Contract Types with AI
When you upload contracts via Smart Import or Run AI, Ironclad will automatically detect contract types in the document. Contract types are essentially labels used to classify or categorize contracts based on their purpose or structure. This means you won’t need to manually search and tag contracts after importing them.
There are 16 types available OOTB that make it easier for you to filter, search, and organize your repository:
- Amendment
- Business Associate Agreement (BAA)
- Change Order
- Data Processing Addendum (DPA)
- Invoice
- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
- Order Form
- Privacy Policy
- Reseller Agreement
- Sales Order
- Service Agreement
- Software License Agreement
- Statement of Work (SOW)
- Subscription Agreement
- Supplier Agreement
- Terms and Conditions

Signer Name Override
With this update, when ‘Use typed signature value as signer name’ is enabled, if a signer signs with a different typed signature value than the current signer name in the request, the signer name will be updated to match the typed signature value.
This will not constitute a reassignment in the activity feed of the workflow. This only applies to typed signature values, not uploaded signature image values, and is only for signature tags, not initials.
On the Ironclad Signature signing page, updating a signature tag with a typed value will update the signer name both where the signer name tag appears on the document and in the UI context panel.
To learn more about configuring this, refer to Use Typed Signature Value as Signer Name in Ironclad Signature.

Ironclad Signature Support for Digital Signatures and Advanced Electronic Signatures (AES)
Ironclad now supports digital signatures using digital certificates, providing an extra layer of security and trust for your signed documents. Digital certificates verify that a contract has been signed and has not been tampered with since execution. Issued by DigiCert, this unique digital certificate is visible in the PDF's metadata and authenticates the document's integrity and provenance, giving you and your counterparties confidence that the signed document remains authentic.
Digital certificates can be used to create AES-compliant signatures when Require signer verification for all signers is turned on.
To learn more about configuring signer verification, refer to Configure Signer Verification for Ironclad Signature.
Important: Ironclad does not independently verify the identity of signers beyond confirming the email address. If you need AES-compliant signatures, you are responsible for ensuring that the signature request is sent to the correct individual and for verifying the signer’s identity in accordance with applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

Ironclad Salesforce Integration
Duplicate Object Prevention with Salesforce
Ironclad automatically reinstates a deleted record sync configuration when it’s re-added with the same Company ID, Org ID, and Record Type. If someone unlinks or deletes a configuration and then sets it back up, Ironclad will restore the previous mapping so you don’t need to manually rebuild it. This feature improves data continuity and avoids creating orphaned or duplicate objects in Salesforce.

Ironclad Salesforce Integration Managed Package Update (v 3.58)
The following features are included in the new Salesforce managed package and were released November 5, 2025. To access these features, you must update your Salesforce managed package to the latest version (v3.58).
Add Idempotency Key to Ironclad Contract Object
To improve data accuracy and consistency, we have added an idempotency key to the Ironclad_Contract__c object. Previously, network retries could cause Ironclad to send multiple create requests to Salesforce, resulting in duplicate Ironclad_Contract__c records and reporting discrepancies.
With this enhancement, Ironclad now prevents duplicate record creation and enforces a 1:1 relationship between Ironclad contracts and their corresponding Salesforce records.
Preview and Download Documents Returned by Counterparties
We have improved the experience for users handling redlined agreements returned via email. Previously, when a counterparty emailed a redlined document into a workflow, users encountered an error when trying to preview the file due to a malformed document link.
With this update, you can now successfully view and download emailed documents directly from the workflow in Salesforce. The enhanced flow also guides users to add the document to a workflow before previewing it, displaying a clear error message when necessary. To learn more, refer to Set Up The Ironclad Messages Lightning Component.
Allow Revert to Review for All Users
All Salesforce users with access to the ‘Next Steps’ component can now view the Revert to Review button.
View Email Status in Salesforce Workflow Object
Salesforce users can now view the email open status directly within the Ironclad Workflow object. Previously, users had to navigate to Ironclad to check whether an email had been opened, creating extra steps and slowing down visibility into workflow activity.
With this update, the email open status, powered by Ironclad’s Public API (emailOpenedTimestamps), is now displayed in Salesforce. To learn more, refer to Set Up The Ironclad Messages Lightning Component.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We've compiled a list of key questions and answers to address some frequently asked questions
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Ironclad representative!
Intake Agent
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is the Intake Agent and how does it work? | The Intake Agent is an AI-powered feature that reviews third-party contracts and automatically extracts relevant metadata to populate your workflow launch form. It looks at the launch form you've configured in your workflow and searches for that content in your contract. The agent can answer almost all questions in your launch form as long as the information is found in the contract, including out-of-the-box properties, custom questions, entities, and dates. |
| When will the Intake Agent be available to all customers? | The Intake Agent is currently in Early Access Program (EAP). If you're interested in participating, reach out to your Ironclad representative. Availability may change as the feature moves from EAP to general availability based on customer feedback. |
| Will the Intake Agent create new counterparty entities automatically? | No, the Intake Agent will match your existing entities with the counterparty it identifies in your contract. It will not create new entities because entity creation and management requires admin visibility. The agent intelligently matches variations (e.g., "ABC Company" will match with "ABC Company Inc") to select the correct existing entity. |
| Can the Intake Agent work with API launches or custom URLs from other systems? | Currently, the Intake Agent is only available via the Ironclad web app. The team is working on API functionality so you can use it when launching third-party workflows from another system. |
| How does the Intake Agent work with Salesforce integration? | If you're launching the workflow in Ironclad with Salesforce integration configured, the Intake Agent will: (1) pre-fill the form based on the contract and (2) respect any values automatically pulled from Salesforce (it will not overwrite those values). |
| Is the Intake Agent available for public workflows? | Currently, the Intake Agent is available on third-party paper workflows that are internal. The team is interested in learning more about the need for this feature on public workflows. |
Amendment and Contract Family Features
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| When did the amendment functionality go live? | The amendment functionality was automatically enabled for all customers on November 20, 2025. |
| How does the amendment feature update parent contracts? | When amendments are linked to a parent contract as part of a contract family, the amendment terms can automatically roll up to update the parent contract's properties. This provides a current view of contract terms without manually updating the parent. You can use this for any property types, not just expiration dates and total contract value. |
| Does the amendment feature work for existing contracts in the repository? | Yes, you can enable this for any contracts in the repository, including those already designated as amendments. However, Ironclad isn't automatically tagging contract relationships as amendments or rolling up data yet—that's planned for next year with the "contract family agent." |
| How are child documents organized under the parent contract? | Currently the sort order is based on the agreement date, with the newest agreements at the top. |
| Does the amendment feature work if contracts are linked during workflow creation or after completion? | The amendment rollup functionality works for contracts linked as part of a contract family. Consult your workflow configuration to understand how and when linking occurs in your setup. |
| How does the system handle multiple amendments updating the same parent contract? | The system is designed to manage multiple amendments within a contract family. For questions about amendment ordering and property rollup logic, reach out to your Ironclad representative. |
| How do I view contract families and relationships? | You can access the contract family view from the "contracts pill" at the top of the quick view panel on the contracts dashboard or on the contracts tab for a specific entity. If you don't see this feature, check with your Ironclad representative. |
Jurist AI
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is Jurist and how is it different from standard Ironclad AI features? | Jurist is designed for commercial lawyers and in-house counsel, providing deep legal interpretation, expert insights, drafting, analysis, and redlining capabilities. Standard Ironclad AI features are built for business users, contract managers, and legal operations, focusing on workflow and operational acceleration and efficiency within the CLM. |
| Is Jurist included with standard Ironclad plans? | Jurist is an add-on feature to standard Ironclad plans, not included by default. Please reach out to your Ironclad representative for pricing information. |
| Can Jurist automatically run against counterparty paper when it's uploaded? | The Redlining Agent in Jurist can be configured in workflow settings. For specific automation capabilities, consult with your Ironclad representative. |
