Welcome to What's New in Ironclad: April 2025! This article highlights Ironclad’s new feature releases and existing feature updates for April 2025. The following features will be available on April 10th.
We adhere to a bi-quarterly schedule, delivering new features twice a quarter. For more information on our release cadence, check out New Release Schedule 2025.
From draft to done in record time—our third release of the year aims to speed up contracting for every CLM user.
A unified workspace and streamlined Workflow Page make it easy for every user to find the right contract, access key details instantly, and take action without delay. Admins can manage users faster with bulk actions in the new Users & Groups interface. Global components for Workflow Clauses ensure data stays consistent across Ironclad and reduces maintenance effort.
New Workflow Page
Ironclad’s workflow features have grown over time, and as the workflow page becomes more powerful, we’ve heard your feedback on how much harder it has become to focus on what’s most important in your workflow: progressing the workflow. We want to reduce the time you spend onboarding to Ironclad and fielding day-to-day questions about how to use Ironclad. We’re also laying the foundation for new features to come.
We’ve been working with customers like you over the past two years to understand our customers’ contracting goals and how we can improve the workflow page to serve these goals. This valuable ongoing feedback has helped guide our redesigns, ensuring that we’re serving all our customers across Sales, Procurement, Legal, Legal Operations, and more.
The new workflow page design:
- Helps you quickly see the status of your contract
- Shows you what tasks are outstanding to expedite your contracts
- Gives you visibility into your teammates’s responsibilities on a contract
- Groups related content and actions so you can find them intuitively
- Reduces the time you and your team spend on training and troubleshooting in Ironclad
For a more detailed description of the new workflow page and FAQs, refer to Coming Soon: Ironclad’s New Dashboard and Workflow Page Overview (April 2025 Release).

Unified Dashboard and Repository
We’re merging the Ironclad's Dashboard and Repository into one place that offers all the functionality you need to find and manage data at scale throughout the contract lifecycle.
Historically, these were separate experiences—one for pre-signature workflows and the other for signed and archived records. Despite this split, they both require similar capabilities like search, filtering, saved views, and bulk actions. In the past, some tools and features worked differently, or weren’t available at all, depending on which tab you were using. By integrating these experiences, we’re ensuring that all features work consistently across both.
Here’s what you can expect from the unified Dashboard:
- View, search, and filter all your contracts in one place
- Drill down on insights across both workflows and records data
- Set email reminders for everything
- Save your Dashboard searches
For a more detailed description of the unified Dashboard and Repository and FAQs, refer to Coming Soon: Ironclad’s New Dashboard and Workflow Page Overview (April 2025 Release).

Updated Users and Groups UI
We’re streamlining user management in Ironclad with improved search, filtering, and bulk actions. Admins can now add, remove, or delete users in bulk, as well as use search and filtering to easily find Users and Groups. When multiple users are selected, we display Groups that all of them are a part of, and prompt admins to reassign workflows if permissions change or users are deleted.
To learn more about the updated users and groups UI, refer to Manage Groups and Manage Users.

Global Clause Library
A clause, or clause type (also called a provision), is a section, phrase, or paragraph in a legal document—such as a contract, deed, will, or constitution—that addresses a specific point. Clauses are typically 8 words or more and are written as one or more sentences.
In Ironclad, you can manage your clauses through the Global Clause Library. Now, instead of having each clause live only within a specific workflow configuration, you can use global clauses to manage and edit clauses across multiple workflow configurations from one central location. Any changes you make to global clauses from the Clause Library will be applied to the relevant workflow configurations within Ironclad.
To learn more about the global clause library, refer to the Global Clause Library Overview.

Custom AI Properties
Custom AI properties are available to customers on the newest pricing packages. If you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to your Ironclad representative.
A property is a structured metadata field that stores key information about workflows and records. Properties help you categorize, search, and report on contract data efficiently. Currently, Ironclad offers two types of properties:
- Default Properties: Ironclad AI automatically detects 19 built-in properties once are contract is fully executed.
- Custom Properties: Create additional properties to capture workflow-specific details, such as region-specific terms or custom identifiers, through the Launch Form.
With this release, Ironclad is introducing an additional property type:
- Custom AI Properties: Train AI to automatically extract unique contract details, enabling more precise and automated data capture. You can train Ironclad AI properties to improve their accuracy using examples.
For more information on Custom AI Properties, refer to Set Up Custom AI Properties for Smart Import and Run AI Detection.

Build Insights for Approval Time Tracking
Our enhancements to Approval Time Tracking enable you to answer questions about your workflows as it relates to approvals. These questions include:
- How long on average did a team (e.g., Legal) take on a set of contracts?
- How long did an individual take on a contract/set of contracts?
- How does duration change based on contract data (i.e. record type, region)?
- How many contracts required review by a specific team (e.g., Compliance)?
This is now available via Export View on the Dashboard and our API.
For more information on exporting Approval Time Tracking data, refer to Build Insights for Approval Time Tracking.

Entities
Entities are automatically available to most customers. You will see the Entities tab if you are an administrator or have access through your group permissions. If you do not see the Entities tab and are an administrator, please reach out to your Ironclad representative.
Entities provides a centralized database where admins can standardize and maintain counterparty information. This automates data entry for users to ensure data accuracy at the point of contract creation.
Ironclad now connects your contracts, counterparty data, and their obligations in a unified Entity Profile Page to be your single source of truth for all your business relationships. This helps procurement and legal teams identify consolidation opportunities and gain insights into their overall contractual exposure with specific counterparties.
To learn more about entities, refer to the Entities Overview.

Once a contract is signed, obligations define required actions for each party, ensuring compliance and outlining consequences for non-fulfillment.
Admins can now transform contract commitments into trackable action items with assigned ownership and a due date in one unified platform. With 18 out-of-the-box obligation types, teams can start monitoring commitments immediately from executed contracts.

Launch Coupa Contracts Without State Information
In Coupa, the state component of a supplier's address is not a required field. However, an error was previously triggered when customers attempted to launch a workflow without this information. Coupa customers can now proceed with workflow launches, even when the state information is missing.

Performance and Scale Improvements
We made minor upgrades across Jurist to improve performance, increase the size of documents Jurist can edit, and improve stability.
Type | Summary |
---|---|
Limit Increase |
When editing, Jurist can now handle approximately 70,000 words and no longer has a 300 paragraph limit. To learn more about Jurist limits, refer to the Jurist Overview. |
Bug Fix | We fixed a bug when Jurist would error when prompted for multiple actions (eg. summarize this contract AND generate a memo). Jurist will now perform multiple tasks in the sequence requested. |
Stability Improvement | We reduced users encountering streaming and session crashes. This would have looked like Jurist spinning (solved by a page refresh) or presenting an error in the chat. |
Usability Improvement | You can now prompt jurist without first attaching a document. Jurist asks you how it can help. Previously, Jurist would return an Input array is empty or not an array error. |

Automate Signature Packet Expiration
You can automate the expiration of a signature packet, ensuring it expires a set number of days after being sent for signature—without requiring someone to manually trigger the expiration. Once set, expiration details will appear in the Activity Feed when a signature request is sent and when the packet automatically expires.
This applies to all eSignature providers in Ironclad. If you use a third party integration, we recommend checking with your e-signature provider for additional details on how signature packet expiration works. While we make our best effort to expire packets based on the selected timeframe, the process is subject to the constraints of each third-party e-signature API.
For more information on automatic signature packet expiration, refer to the Automated Signature Packet Expiration Overview.
