AI Credits Transition to Paid Usage on September 1, 2026: Starting September 1, 2026, eligible AI agents will move from the current uncapped trial to credit-based usage. Each eligible agent action will use a set number of AI Credits from your account’s shared balance. Your platform edition may include AI Credits, and you can purchase additional credits as your usage grows. After your included balance is depleted, additional AI agent usage will incur a cost through pre-purchased credits, on-demand billing or pause until more credits are added, depending on your account settings. Credit rates vary by agent and action. AI Credits apply to eligible agents such as Renewal Agent, Intake Agent, and Archive Agent. They do not apply to every AI-powered feature in Ironclad. Overview
What does the AI Credit Cap control?
The AI Credit Cap controls on-demand AI Credits. It does not control platform-included credits or purchased credit packs.
On-demand credits are pay-as-you-go credits. They start only after your included and purchased credits reach zero.
Which setting should I choose?
The AI Credit Cap is off by default.
Choose the setting that best fits your account:
Leave the cap off
Leave the cap off to keep credit-dependent agent use running after your other credits run out. This can add pay-as-you-go charges.
Ironclad uses credits in this order:
- Platform-included credits
- Purchased or pre-planned credit packs
- On-demand credits
When the first two balances reach zero, on-demand use starts. On-demand credits are billed at $1 per credit.
Turn the cap on
Turn the cap on to stop new pay-as-you-go charges. Ironclad uses platform-included and purchased credits as usual.
When both balances reach zero, Ironclad does not use on-demand credits. Credit-dependent agent use pauses until an Account Administrator adds purchased credits or turns off the cap.
Configure Cap AI Credit Usage
- Click on your profile icon located in the top right corner, and then click Company Settings.
- Click Ironclad AI.
- Toggle on Cap AI credit usage.
- Click Confirm.
