AI Credits Transition to Paid Usage on September 1, 2026: Starting September 1, 2026, eligible AI agents will move from the current uncapped trial to credit-based usage. Each eligible agent action will use a set number of AI Credits from your account’s shared balance. Your platform edition may include AI Credits, and you can purchase additional credits as your usage grows. After your included balance is depleted, additional AI agent usage will incur a cost through pre-purchased credits, on-demand billing, or pause until more credits are added, depending on your account settings. Credit rates vary by agent and action. AI Credits apply to eligible agents such as Renewal Agent, Intake Agent, Archive Agent, Contract Family Agent, Contract Review Agent, and Analytics Agent. They do not apply to every AI-powered feature in Ironclad. Please reach out to your Ironclad representative for more information.

What are AI Credits?
AI Credits are Ironclad’s shared usage currency for eligible AI agents. Your account has one pooled balance that is shared across users, workflows, and supported agents, so you do not need to manage a separate credit pool for each person or use case.
How do AI credits work in Ironclad?
Each eligible AI agent action uses a set number of AI Credits. The number of credits required depends on the agent and the action. For example, Renewal Agent, Intake Agent, Archive Agent, and future eligible agents may use AI Credits at different rates. AI Credits are designed for specific agent actions. Not every AI-powered feature in Ironclad uses AI Credits.
Demo and Sandbox usage does not consume AI Credits; the pooled balance and usage reporting apply only to production instances.
Once your included credits are depleted, you will receive an email alerting you your account has reached 0 AI Credits. You can continue using AI Agents by either:
- Pre-purchasing AI Credit packs at a discounted rate for planned usage
- Using on-demand AI Credits for pay-as-you-go usage
The default behavior is that AI Credit Cap is off, meaning that when credit balance runs out, you will move into pay-as-you-go credit usage with AI actions billed at the list rate of $1.00 per credit. To avoid pay-as-you- go credit usage, admins will either need to purchase a-la-carte credits or turn on the AI Credit cap.

Note: AI Credits are separate from the legacy AI Contract Credits previously associated with some extraction features. If your account uses legacy pricing, your credit experience may differ.
