This article walks you through how to edit an obligation property. You can edit an existing obligation property in Data Manager when you need to update how that property is labeled or described. This helps you keep obligation data clear and consistent across your account.
Use Case
At Classics Inc., a legal operations manager notices that an obligation property name is too vague for users. They update the property name and description in Data Manager so users can understand the field more easily when they create or manage obligations. This helps the team collect more consistent data.

Edit an Existing Obligation Property
- Click on your profile icon located in the top right corner of Ironclad. Navigate to Company Settings > Data Manager.
- From the dropdown at the top, select Obligation properties.
- Click the obligation property you want to edit, and then click Edit (indicated by a pencil icon).
- Edit the property’s Name and Description. You cannot edit the property’s data type or schema.
- Click Save (indicated by a check mark icon) and confirm your changes. Changes to the obligation property will be applied across all instances of its usage in Ironclad.
