Summary
This article walks you through how to create a contract reminder in Ironclad so you can automatically notify the right users about the contracts you want them to review.
Use Case
At Classics, Inc., the legal team creates a reminder for agreements expiring in the next 90 days and sends it to Legal, Finance, and Workflow Owners. Each recipient only receives reminders for the contracts they already have access to, so teams see only the contracts relevant to their role.

All users can send reminders to themselves. Only administrators can send contract reminders to other users. |
Create a Contract Reminder
A reminder email can display up to 15 contracts, and it includes a link to the full list in Ironclad if more contracts match the view. Recipients only receive reminder emails for contracts they have permission to view.
- In the Dashboard, filter or search for the contracts you want to receive reminders for:
- If you want to send reminders for expiring contracts of all types in the Repository view on the Dashboard, skip this step.
- Otherwise, filter or search for your contracts or select a saved view. Contract reminders are tied to saved views, and if you are creating the reminder from a filtered search instead of an existing saved view, Ironclad creates a new view for it automatically. If you delete the saved view associated with a contract reminder, the reminder is also deleted.
Click the three stacked dots located in the top right corner, and then click Email reminder.
Choose the reminder recipients in the To field. You can send reminders to individual users, groups, specific roles such as Workflow Owner, or user properties tied to Ironclad users. If you are not an administrator, you can only send reminders to yourself.
Customize the email body so recipients understand what the reminder is for and why they are receiving it.
Open the Reminder Schedule dropdown and choose when the reminder should be sent. You can set the cadence to Promptly using One time, or Periodically using Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually.
In the Properties Added dropdown, select up to five properties to include in the email, then sort the contracts if needed.
Click Send me a test email to preview the reminder. The test email is sent to your email address for review. The preview does not apply the reminder schedule. It sends an email with all records currently in the saved view.
When you are finished configuring the reminder, click Create.
