This article will walk you through how to assign a signer to a property and optionally assign a default value using a Launch Form.
Users with access to Workflow Designer can assign a signer to a text property. Information provided by signers while signing will be captured in Ironclad as metadata and stored on the record for you to use in post-signature processes and integrations.
Assigned properties are automatically added to the Launch Form. Customize your launch form to remove, hide, or show the question, and add a default value.
- When removed, signers can only enter information while signing.
- When hidden, signers can enter information while signing. Additionally, you can provide a default value programmatically, or manually in the Review step.
- When shown, signers can enter information in both the launch form and while signing. You can still provide a default value programmatically, or manually in the Review step.
Keep the following considerations in mind:
- This is only available in Workflow designer. This is not available when uploading and sending a document from the dashboard, or when placing tags manually at the Sign step for in-flight workflows.
- Properties with type “text”, “email”, “date”, "number", and “boolean” are supported. To capture data provided by signers for non-supported properties, add the property to a Launch Form.
- This is available for Ironclad Signature and supported 3rd party signature provided integrations.

- In the Properties and Conditions panel, select a property or create a new one.
- Click the three stacked dots and then click Edit Property.
- Select Assign to a signer.
- Select a signer and enter a Display name.
- Click Save.
