This article goes over the steps to enable auto-placed tags so Signature Coordinators can use AI to prepare documents for signing.
Use Case
Your team prepares documents with several signers or signature blocks and wants to reduce manual tag placement. An administrator enables auto-placing tags once for the company. Signature Coordinators can then select Auto-place tags at the Sign step or when sending a document directly for signature.

Auto-Place Tags Overview
The auto-place tags feature uses AI to detect and place blank, editable signature, name, date, title, and initials tags. Auto-place tags scans the documents to locate where each signer’s information typically goes, and places a tag there. Tags will populate in the document signer by signer, so you won’t have to wait for the entire document to process to see the progress.
This feature doesn’t place prefilled or read-only fields, workflow data fields, or tags where the document does not contain a signature block.
Once a tag is placed, it works just like a normal tag. You can move, resize, delete, reassign, or change its type.
Enable Auto-Place Tags
To enable auto-placement:
- In Ironclad, click your profile icon in the upper right corner and select Company Settings.
- Click Ironclad AI in the left side panel.
- Under AI Features, toggle on the option to Auto-place signature tags.
Now, users will be able to click the Auto-place tags option when signing contracts.
FAQs
Does it support languages other than English?
No.
Can I stop a run once it starts?
Yes, you can click Cancel on the progress bar to stop a run mid-way. If tags were already placed, simply delete them from the document.
What happens if I navigate away from the page while the auto-place tags feature is running?
If you leave the page without saving, any unsaved tags will be cleared.
Do I need to review and accept each tag, or are they placed immediately?
Tags are placed immediately.
