Ironclad uses Credly to issue digital badges for completing Ironclad Academy content and for attending training events, such as Ironclad Local. Badges are tied to the email address you use when registering for an event or Ironclad Academy. If you use multiple emails, your badges might be split across multiple Credly accounts. This article goes over how badges are earned and issued, and how you can consolidate them under one account.

How are Ironclad badges earned and issued?
You earn Ironclad badges after completing eligible activities, such as:
- Ironclad Academy Skills-Verified Learning Paths
- Ironclad Local training events
When you complete all of the requirements to receive a badge, Ironclad records your completion or attendance. Then, Credly issues the badge to the email address used to register for a course or event, along with a notification link to accept the badge.
If the email used for your badge doesn’t match the email you normally use to log in, you might not see it right away. When this happens, you can either add that email address to your Credly account or merge accounts so that everything shows up in one place. (This typically happens if you registered for an account at a previous employer)
- If you have one Credly login, but received notification emails to receive your badge at a different email address that isn’t associated with your Credly login, you’ll need to add that email to your Credly profile.
- If you have multiple Credly logins with different emails and want to consolidate them into one account, you’ll need to merge your duplicate Credly accounts.
Add email addresses to your Credly account
If you used more than one email address to attend Ironclad events or complete Ironclad Academy courses, you can add them to the same Credly profile. This ensures that any new badges issued to any of those emails will appear in your Credly account.
To add a secondary email address to your Credly account:
- Log in to your Credly account.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
- Click Settings.
- Click the Account tab from the left-hand menu.
- In the Add Email Address field, type in the email address you’d like to add.
- Click Add. Credly will send a verification email to the secondary email address.
- Click the link in the verification email.
Any badges that were accepted or are pending for that secondary email address will transfer over to your default account.
Warning: Deleting the email address associated with an Ironclad badge will delete the badge from your Credly account.
If you’d like to change your default email address:
- Log in to your Credly account.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
- Click Settings.
- Click the Account tab from the left-hand menu.
- Click the More Options icon (ellipsis) next to any secondary email address.
- Select Make Default.
- Confirm that you’d like to make that email the primary email address for your account.
Merge duplicate Credly accounts
If you have more than one Credly account (for example, if you registered for Ironclad Academy with your work email but later registered for an Ironclad event with a personal email). you can merge them to form one default account.
To merge your Credly accounts:
- Decide which Credly account you want to keep as your default account.
- Log in to the Credly account you'd like to designate as your default account.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Click Settings.
- Navigate to the Account tab in the left-hand menu.
- Click the link to the right of Merge Account.
- Enter the email address and password of the account you want to merge into the default account.
- Retrieve the authorization code sent to the email address you’re merging into the default account.
- Enter the authorization code, and confirm the merge.
Once merged, all accepted and pending badges from the duplicate account will transfer over to your default account.
Note: The email address used to create the duplicate account will be added as a secondary email to your new default account.
