Add Contract Completion Emails
Under the Sign tab of your Workflow Designer template, click on +Create Contract Completion Email to set up this custom email.
Once the email has been added, you will see the first email in its editing view:
By default, the Subject line will read “Completed contract: Record Type with Counterparty Name.” Additionally, the completed contract (PDF) will be included as an attachment for this configured email. If you wish to remove the attached PDF, click the X button next to the attachment. This will then change to a + icon, and can be added back if needed.
At least 1 “To” recipient is required for each email. “To” recipients can be configured as any email address, company user or group, and email fields set up in forms.
Email form field types can be added as recipients, as well as existing groups and users on Ironclad.
In this example, I created an “Account Executive Tracking Email” field in the Form Builder, and added this field in the “To” field.
Additionally, you may add any non-users to receive this completion email by typing an individual email address:
Verified emails will be saved in blue, while unverified or incomplete addresses will be grey.
Add Email Body
You can choose to add a message body here and include template fields within the text. For example, I have included the ‘Record Type’ and the ‘Counterparty Name’ tags within the body. You can copy these field types from the Subject line which will appear with brackets when you are within the body section of the email. Once you click out of the text area, these will appear as recognizable tags.
If there are other fields you would like to add, you can do so by copying the field’s code from the attribute panel.
Note: Fields that cannot be copied are any Dynamic Table properties, Yes/No form field types, File Upload fields, and Related Record fields.
Click the 3 dots next to the field you want to copy into the Body or the Subject line:
You can then paste the field and it will automatically fill in this information based on the inputs from the Form Builder. Once you have completed the email, click Done at the top-right corner!

This feature is only available for DocuSign and AdobeSign.
DocuSign customers: no action required to utilize.
AdobeSign customers: please make sure that Private Messages to Recipients is enabled under your account Send Settings.
When sending out a signature packet, you can create private messages to be sent to any of the signers. Create your private message after selecting ‘Prepare Signature Packet’ and click the envelope icon next to a signers name. Here you can add your message in the text box, and will be able to view a preview of the generic signature request message. After adding your message, click ‘Save Message’ and you can view the message before sending it out for signature.
- Content of private messages will be saved even when a signature request is canceled or a signature packet is reset.
- Private messages have a character limit of 1000 characters, and the preview for messages will only display up to 250 characters.
- The message will be tracked in the activity feed when initially sent out for signature, and once the recipient views the message.
Add CC Recipient on eSignature Email
The Signature Coordinator can add CC recipients to your Signers’ request email. These recipients will be able to view and follow the progress of the signature request from each workflow. Underneath the Signers section click “Add eSignature CCs” to begin adding recipients.
Once in the eSignature CCs section, add recipients by typing their email directly or search for users.
Note: CC Recipients will be notified when the Signature Packet is sent and all signatures are collected. All signature providers will attach the fully executed agreement to CC Recipients as well. If using an internal user as a CC Recipient, this will not give workflow access or edit capabilities.
