This article will walk you through how to configure digital signatures.
Digital signatures are a specific type of electronic signature that add an extra layer of security. They do this by verifying signers through third party Trust Service Providers (TSPs), which then provide a digital certificate as part of the signature packet. This extra layer of security may be needed due to regulations based on industry, country, or government entity. Ironclad currently supports digital signatures through the electronic signature provider DocuSign.
Supported TSPs
The following TSPs are supported:
Trust Service Provider | Jurisdiction | Digital Signature Framework |
IDNow | European Union | eIDAS QES |
itAgile | Italy | eIDAS QES |
Itsme | Belgium | eIDAS QES |
VIDA | Indonesia | TTE |
GovTech | Asia | Secure Electronic Signature (SES) |
SAT | Mexico | Firma Digital |
ICP Smart Card | Brazil | ICP |
In addition to these individual TSPs, we also support Signer-Held digital certificates for the following regions:
- EU
- Vietnam
- Ecuador
Configure Digital Signatures
NOTE
There must be a TSP set up for your organization prior to sending any contracts for signature.
- In Company Settings in Ironclad, set up your DocuSign integration.
- Click the Workflow Designer tab and select a workflow configuration to add a digital certificate to.
- Navigate to Sign > Settings, and confirm that DocuSign is the signature provider for this configuration.
- Click More Settings.
- For the Use digital certificates field, select Always or set a condition to make it required under certain conditions.
- A field displays for Digital certificate type. It will default to IDNow, but you can select from any of the supported TSPs or Signer Held regions.
- Select the digital certificate type that your organization uses.
- Publish the workflow changes.
Now, any new contract that is sent for signature via this workflow configuration after publishing will prompt the signer(s) to verify their identity by providing their digital certificate or by creating a new digital certificate. The digital certificate is attached automatically and, after the signing process is complete, can be viewed on the completed signature packet in the Ironclad Repository.
NOTE
Ironclad is limited to only having one digital certificate type set up per workflow configuration.
