This article will walk you through how to use PDF format for Clickwrap templates.
By default, we recommend you use HTML which allows for a better end user experience and makes it easier to use Clickwrap to manage your legal content. However, there are certain use cases where PDFs may better meet your business’s needs. To learn more about the benefits of each format, refer to HTML vs PDF Templates.
NOTE
The following limitations apply when uploading PDFs:
- Internal links, bookmarks, and headers will be removed. Only links to external destinations will remain.
- Passwords protection will be removed.
Upload a PDF
- In the top navigation bar, click Templates or go to https://clickwrap.pactsafe.com/templates.
- Click Create Template located in the top right.
- Select Upload a new PDF and upload your PDF.
- Click Save, and then click Publish.
Troubleshoot a PDF that cannot be displayed
If Preview displays a Document cannot be displayed error, the PDF may be password-protected or encrypted. Ironclad does not automatically remove this protection and cannot display, process, or archive the protected file. Download the affected PDF, remove the password protection or encryption in Adobe Acrobat or another PDF editor, save it as a new PDF, and upload the unrestricted copy to replace the protected version. Before uploading it, confirm that the new PDF opens without requesting a password. If you cannot remove the protection directly, you may be able to create an unrestricted copy by using Print to PDF or Save as PDF. Confirm that you are authorized to remove the document’s protection before creating a new copy.
