Key Terminology

Site |
An environment within your account. |
All templates, Clickwrap Groups, Snapshot Locations, Legal Centers, users, and activity live within a site, and a site lives within an account. Additional sites can be created within an account as sandboxes or more production environments. |
User |
An individual with access to your site(s) in Ironclad Clickwrap. |
Users can be Owners, Admins, or Members. To learn more about users and permissions, refer to Manage Clickwrap Users. |
Template/Contract | A contract managed in Ironclad Clickwrap. |
A template comprises versions that are drafted and published. A template must be configured as public in order to use in a Clickwrap Group or the Legal Center. A template can be static (unchanging) or dynamic. To learn more about dynamic templates, refer to Create Dynamic Templates. |
Version | An instance of a template that is created as a draft, published, and timestamped by its publish or effective date. |
A version can be set as major (e.g. 1.0 or 2.0) or minor (e.g. 1.1). A version cannot be modified after it is published. The effective date of a version can be modified from the default publish date, as long as the version is the latest, published version of the template. |
Clickwrap Group/Clickwrap/Group | Container that hold contract(s) for acceptance, where you manage visual and overall settings of the Clickwrap experience. |
A Clickwrap Group can contain one or more templates to present to a counterparty for acceptance. A Clickwrap Group generates a JavaScript code snippet to embed the Clickwrap Group in your desired webpage or application. To learn more, refer to the JavaScript Library Developer Documentation. |
Snapshot | Screenshot of a webpage or application where a Clickwrap Group is embedded. | A Snapshot can be captured manually or on an automated frequency (daily, weekly, monthly). |
Snapshot Location | Container of Snapshots that corresponds to the webpage or application where a Clickwrap Group is embedded. | Snapshot Location types include: desktop web browser, mobile web browser, and native app. |
Legal Center | Ironclad-hosted webpage where templates are publicly available to view and download as PDFs. |
All accounts include one default Legal Center that shows all public, published templates. Additional Legal Centers can be created and published to show a subset of your public, published templates. |
Activity |
An event that corresponds to counterparty or user actions, logged against a template version and/or Clickwrap Group. |

Counterparty/Signer |
An individual who accepts a Clickwrap agreement. |
A counterparty is uniquely identified with a Signer ID that you designate in your Clickwrap implementation. |
Acceptance Record | Immutable log associated with a Clickwrap acceptance that contains key metadata comprising evidence of assent to Clickwrap. |
An Acceptance Record is associated with agreed event types. An Acceptance Record includes the timestamp of the acceptance, the associated Signer ID, template version, Clickwrap Group, Snapshot Location, and other metadata. An Acceptance Record can be downloaded as a PDF. |
